John MoffittFor Town Supervisor
Lifelong resident of the town of Mendon, John is a local community advocate. He resides on Ontario Street in the Village of Honeoye Falls with his wife, Carol, and two children, Heather and Jack. Carol is a faculty member at Honeoye Falls-Lima Manor School. Heather currently is a senior at Niagara University, studying Political Science and Jack is a Sophomore at SUNY Brockport, majoring in Criminal Justice. Both are third generation graduates of Honeoye Falls (Lima) Central School. HF-L has been an integral part of John’s life and family. He works part-time for the Transportation Department as a morning bus driver. He is heavily involved in three graduation scholarships, two of which are named after fellow 1975 classmates who were tragically lost in an automobile accident in 1973. John has also served on the Mendon-Lima-Honeoye Falls Youth Activity Compact Committee. Active with the community’s youth, John has served on the Mendon Recreation Commission for the past five years. Also, his involvement in Honeoye Falls Mendon Youth Baseball has been unwavering for the past 33 years. Coaching from 1977 to 2001, John also served as Vice President from 1993 to 1999 and is the current President of the HF-M Youth Baseball League. Since 1988 John has owned and managed a small business in Honeoye Falls, Be-Mar Associates Incorporated, Roller skating, started in 1958 by his father, Harland Moffitt. He has also been active in the Moffitt family owned and operated business, Dipper Dan’s ice cream parlor. For the past five years, John has been a certified baseball umpire with the Genesee Valley Umpire Association. Together with the endorsed team of candidates, John looks forward to working for the residents of the town of Mendon, striving for lower taxes and less government. The Republican slate shares a positive view of Mendon’s political future, delivering responsible spending, especially in relation to moving forward with the encouragement of our future library. From previous experience in successful businesses and volunteer organizations, John has been a proven community leader. With the experienced leadership of incumbent candidates, John Rooney, Jim Merzke, and Bud Smith and the genuine concern for resident’s quality of life shared by Karla Boyce and Cara Briggs, John is confident that the Mendon Republican team will ensure Mendon’s future as a desired community to live, work, and play in. Your Republican team stands for fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, maximizing services for the public, and utilizing commercially zoned areas. Revitalizing and enhancing the downtown areas of the hamlet and village as well as preserving the character of the town are also important issues surrounding John’s political philosophy. John’s family has presided in Honeoye Falls since 1825 when his Great-Great Grandfather, Ethan Davis emigrated to the town of Mendon. The family has previously been involved in Mendon politics as John’s Grandfather, Harland Moffitt Sr. was the longest serving town supervisor, presiding for 22 years.
